Like it or not, it’s
here and it’s real! Are you mobile responsive?
On April 21,
2015 Google expanded its use of mobile-friendliness as a ranking signal in its
searches. This change has affected mobile searches in all languages worldwide and
will have a significant impact in Google Search results for websites that are
not mobile friendly or responsive.
Google’s search chief Amit Singhal said for the first time last year
more Google searches were completed on mobile devices than desktop computers.
What this means is any site without
mobile-friendly qualities or mobile responsiveness will dramatically drop in
the ranking in mobile searches and minimally-optimized sites will experience
negative fluctuations.
With these changes last year Google has made
a statement that they want to provide the best online experience for their
users and since over ½ of their users are using mobile devices they will not
recognize any site that is not mobile-friendly or mobile responsive.
Google is the largest search engine in the
world and if your website is not mobile responsive you could be missing out on
business.
